This traditional Irish Farmstead house has been lodged for planning permission.
This fragmented design is reminiscent of the traditional Irish Georgian Style Estates with the large rendered ‘Manor House’ addressing the approach driveway. The smaller scale ‘Coach House’ which would traditionally be finished in brickwork and stone ‘Outhouse’ form the U-shaped which encloses the courtyard which is a traditional feature.
The concept is to create the feeling that the proposed house has historically sat on the site and that the ‘Coach House’ and ‘Outhouse’ have been converted and re-used to create a home suitable for modern day living standards. The 3 different elements are treated with contrasting materials to reinforce this idea and clearly identify the hierarchy of scale and historical importance.
