The existing 1960’s building had become dilapidated and was a constant eye-sore for the local community.
This face-lift project included for the recladding of the external envelope and a number of DDA improvements including a level access to the main entrance, disabled wc’s and vertical passenger lift.
We used high thermal insulated panels to clad the majority of the building to comply with the current regulations whilst enclosing an existing high level recess which caused problems in terms of pigeons and vandalism.
The lift was placed adjacent to the existing exposed staircase allowing a solid brick mass to enclose both elements. This circulation core contrasts the cladding panels and increases the legibility of the main entrance.
